WHY SOLANA?

We were seed investors in Solana and it remains our ‘home turf’ and focus. Our portfolio includes 15+ Solana-based projects. We are major infrastructure contributors to the network, running Firedancer validators and the most performant RPC services. Out of our yield side, we are a solver on Solana intent-based DeFi protocols, including Wormhole, DeBridge, and Mayan. We incubate projects and products with a Solana focus. We are in the process of co-launching, alongside the Foundation / Superteam, an awesome accelerator / hub for builders based in Dubai. And more..!

THE ROLE:

We’re already “big in Solana” and looking to scale the advantage - staying ahead of every development in the space and ensuring we miss no talented entrepreneur or high-growth investment opportunity in the Solana midst.

You will play a major part in this effort as our resident Solana guru. You will be constantly immersed in the SOL universe, developing an in-depth understanding of the ecosystem’s commercial trends and technical roadmap items, with an eye to identifying the best investment opportunities.

You will join a tight and collaborative investment team. You will continually hone your analytical skills on the job, and create detailed scenario analysis and investment memos. You will be expected to develop a network that you can leverage to reach and vet talented founders, and generate quality deal flow.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Deal Sourcing
  • Proactively generate deal flow within the Solana ecosystem
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Solana founders, investors, and ecosystem players that you leverage to access high-quality deals
  • Screen and evaluate incoming Solana investment opportunities
  • Map and monitor the Solana ecosystem for emerging opportunities
Deal Analysis
  • Conduct thorough research on key technical and commercial developments in the Solana ecosystem, and communicate findings in professional, insightful, engaging content that reinforces RockawayX’s thought leadership
  • Be a reliable information source, or our resident “Solana guru,” to colleagues seeking information on Solana developments and notable projects
  • Represent the firm at selected Solana ecosystem events and conferences
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders in the Solana ecosystem
Portfolio management
  • Working alongside our growth team, develop a view on the unique challenges Solana founders face, and how we can help to address them, ideally by leveraging our liquidity and engineering expertise
  • Support existing portfolio companies in the Solana ecosystem
  • Monitor portfolio performance and prepare regular updates; while venture is primarily a “bottom-up” investment exercise, provide insight on portfolio positioning / clusters of exposure
  • Identify and conduct analysis on follow-on investment opportunities
Ecosystem engagement and thought leadership
  • Conduct thorough research on key technical and commercial developments in the Solana ecosystem, and communicate findings in professional, insightful, engaging content that reinforces RockawayX’s thought leadership
  • Be a reliable information source, or our resident “Solana guru,” to colleagues seeking information on Solana developments and notable projects
  • Represent the firm at selected Solana ecosystem events and conferences
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders in the Solana ecosystem

HOW DO WE PICTURE YOU?

  • Strong network and relationships within the Solana ecosystem
  • Bachelor's degree in business, economics, computer science, or related field
  • Min. 3 years of experience in crypto industry, with focus on or exposure to Solana
  • Track record of successful investments or deep involvement in Solana ecosystem
  • Understanding of Solana's technical architecture and ecosystem dynamics
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Self-starter mentality with strong entrepreneurial drive
